Table format converter

Convert a rectangular table to CSV, TSV, JSON objects, or a Markdown table. Keep every header and value as text.

Fictional sample loaded for demonstration. Your file is not sent to a Rowlane server.

1. Bring in a table

CSV or TSV · UTF-8 text · up to 5 MiB, 20,000 records, and 100 columns

All values stay text, including IDs like 0017.
Quoted commas, quotes, and line breaks are preserved. Choose the delimiter if detection is wrong.
Output format

Formula prefixing applies to CSV and TSV output only.

What this tool does

CSV and TSV use quoted text fields and can enable spreadsheet-formula prefixing. JSON output is an array of objects whose values remain strings. Markdown output escapes pipe characters and displays cell line breaks as breaks.

How to use it

  1. Load a table with unique headers and consistent row widths.
  2. Choose an output format and review the formula-prefix setting for CSV or TSV.
  3. Convert, inspect the result preview, and download the new file.

2. Check the input

Confirm the header and a few records before applying a rule.

Questions

What to expect

Will JSON numbers be converted to numbers?

No. Every cell is exported as a JSON string so identifiers and leading zeroes stay visible.

Does Markdown preserve embedded newlines?

A cell line break is displayed as “<br>” to keep each record on one Markdown table row.

Review the destination rules. A valid CSV or a clean report does not guarantee that another system will accept the file. Keep your original and verify any export before importing it.
