Column statistics

Review counts, distinct values, text lengths, and—when every nonblank cell is numeric—minimum, maximum, mean, and median.

1. Bring in a table

CSV or TSV · UTF-8 text · up to 5 MiB, 20,000 records, and 100 columns

All values stay text, including IDs like 0017.
Quoted commas, quotes, and line breaks are preserved. Choose the delimiter if detection is wrong.

What this tool does

Statistics are calculated on the selected column as text. Blank values are counted separately. Numeric measures appear only when every nonblank value is a finite decimal number, so one label or malformed value prevents misleading partial numeric summaries.

How to use it

  1. Choose one field to inspect.
  2. Run the summary and distinguish blank, distinct, and numeric counts.
  3. Use the output as a quick profile, then check unusual values in the original table.

2. Check the input

Confirm the header and a few records before applying a rule.

Questions

What to expect

Why are numeric statistics absent?

At least one nonblank value may not be a finite decimal number, or the column may contain only blanks.

How are text lengths counted?

Unicode code points are counted rather than UTF-16 code units, which avoids splitting most visible characters into surrogate halves.

Review the destination rules. A valid CSV or a clean report does not guarantee that another system will accept the file. Keep your original and verify any export before importing it.
