Make a repeatable random row sample

A fixed seed lets a reviewer reproduce a subset from the same ordered file.

Define the population first

The tool samples row positions from the table you loaded. Remove headers from the population by design: the first record is the header and is never sampled. If the input was already filtered, only that filtered population is eligible.

Save the seed with the file identity

Record the seed, filename, and preferably a source revision or checksum. The same seed does not identify the same records if the file contents or order change.

Use the right kind of randomness

The generator is deterministic and intended for reproducible review samples. It is not cryptographically secure and should not be used for prize draws, security controls, or regulated random selection.

Try this workflow: Sample rows. It loads a labelled fictional example that you can edit.
