Choose columns before sharing a table

A smaller export can be easier to review, but a smaller file is not automatically a safe file.

Start from the recipient’s needs

List the exact fields required for the next task. Keeping a stable ID may make the file useful; retaining private notes or hidden internal fields may make it inappropriate to share.

Review order and record retention

The selected fields stay in their original order, and every record is preserved. Empty rows remain when the original row is empty in the selected fields. The tool does not sort or filter them. Use the Column orderer if the receiving system expects a different field sequence.

Check the exported view

Read the result headers and sample records before downloading. Column selection is not a data-loss prevention scanner: inspect the chosen fields and intended audience yourself.

Try this workflow: Column picker. It loads a labelled fictional example that you can edit.
