Value mapper

Replace exact values in one column from a mapping list. Unmapped values remain untouched, and duplicate mapping keys are rejected.

Fictional sample loaded for demonstration. Your file is not sent to a Rowlane server.

1. Bring in a table

CSV or TSV · UTF-8 text · up to 5 MiB, 20,000 records, and 100 columns

All values stay text, including IDs like 0017.
Quoted commas, quotes, and line breaks are preserved. Choose the delimiter if detection is wrong.
Exact value mappings for one field
Write old => new, or paste two columns separated by a tab.

What this tool does

Each nonempty mapping line contains an old value, a tab, and a new value; “old => new” is also accepted. Matching preserves whitespace and is case-sensitive by default. Optional case-insensitive matching still does not trim values.

How to use it

  1. Choose the column to map.
  2. Enter one mapping per line, for example draft => ready. Use a tab between values when either side contains the arrow text.
  3. Apply the mapping, review changed values, and export the table.

2. Check the input

Confirm the header and a few records before applying a rule.

Questions

What to expect

What if a value is not listed?

It remains exactly as it was.

Can I map a blank value?

Blank source keys are not supported so that an accidental empty line cannot replace every missing cell.

Review the destination rules. A valid CSV or a clean report does not guarantee that another system will accept the file. Keep your original and verify any export before importing it.
